Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

TeleMed Platform is a secure telemedicine service that connects patients with licensed healthcare providers through video, phone, or text consultations. Our platform allows you to receive medical care from the comfort of your home or office.

For many common conditions, telemedicine consultations can be just as effective as in-person visits. Studies show that telemedicine provides comparable health outcomes for conditions like colds, flu, infections, chronic disease management, and mental health services. However, some conditions may still require in-person evaluation.

Common conditions we treat include:
  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Allergies and sinus infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin conditions (rashes, acne, etc.)
  • Mental health consultations
  • Chronic disease management
  • Prescription refills (non-controlled substances)
  • Minor injuries
Some conditions require in-person evaluation. If your provider determines you need physical examination or testing, they will recommend next steps.

Technical Requirements

You can use:
  • Smartphones (iOS or Android) with our mobile app
  • Tablets with camera and microphone
  • Laptop or desktop computers with webcam
  • Some smart TVs with camera capabilities
We recommend using devices with the latest operating systems for optimal performance.

For best results, we recommend:
  • Minimum: 1.5 Mbps download/upload speed
  • Recommended: 3 Mbps or higher download/upload speed
You can test your internet speed at speedtest.net. Wired connections generally provide more stable video than WiFi.

Privacy & Security

Yes, we take your privacy and security seriously. Our platform:
  • Is HIPAA compliant
  • Uses end-to-end encryption for all communications
  • Stores data in secure, certified data centers
  • Requires multi-factor authentication for providers

Only authorized healthcare providers involved in your care can access your medical records through our secure system. You may also grant access to other providers or family members if you choose. We never share your information without your consent except as required by law or for treatment purposes.

Billing & Insurance

We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid in many states. Coverage varies by plan and state regulations. You can check your insurance coverage during the booking process or contact your insurance provider directly to verify telemedicine benefits.

We offer affordable self-pay options starting at $49 for general consultations. Specialty services may have different pricing. Payment is required at the time of service, and we accept all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and PayPal.

Prescriptions

Yes, our licensed providers can prescribe medications when clinically appropriate. However, there are limitations:
  • We cannot prescribe controlled substances (narcotics, ADHD medications, etc.)
  • Some states have additional restrictions on telemedicine prescriptions
  • Providers may require lab work or additional information before prescribing
  • Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy
